Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Washington

Tank Lakes are remote, off-trail lakes in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness of the Central Cascades in Washington.  A beautiful location, but some work to get to.

There are many routes to access this high basin, including the Middle Fork Snoqualmie, East and West forks of the Foss River, Alpine Lakes High Route, and more.  The most common route is the East Fork Foss River to the Necklace Valley, then a cross-country climb up steep talus fields and cairned boot paths to the hanging basin. There are endless possibilities for extended explorations from this location if one has the time.

I'm pleased to share that this image was recently licensed for worldwide rights book publication.

You may view this and many more images from this area in my South/Central Cascades Gallery

As always, thanks for looking and I hope to see you on the trail in 2026!
